Adaptive authentication allows for a flexible and automatic adjustment of login parameters based on specific contextual factors. One of these adjustable parameters is multi-factor authentication, in which a user must complete multiple login steps to gain access. For instance, if a user who always logs in from a desktop suddenly uses a mobile device, adaptive multi-factor authentication will temporarily block them by requiring a secondary authenticator (like an email code) to ensure the identity of the user.
